Build a Unity scene with a single player-controlled object — the template project (via fork and clone URL) gives you a capsule to move with a custom C# script (Assets/Scripts/Mover.cs):
Keyboard.current (e.g. Keyboard.current.dKey.isPressed) — not the legacy Input.GetAxis input system that you might see in older tutorials.PlayerController.cs workshop script, which turns like a tank (rotate, then drive forward) — that script won't satisfy this requirement!Time.deltaTime so that the speed doesn't depend on frame rate.Left Shift should activate sprinting; a separate higher speed movement value that’s also exposed in the Inspector.Assets/Prefabs/Player.prefab)<aside>
Need a starting point?
Rigidbody and rotates to turn, like a car — a different, heavier pattern than the strafe movement A1 asks for. Don't copy it directly. Unity's Keyboard class reference is more useful here.<aside> ✅
Quick check: Open Edit ▸ Project Settings ▸ Player ▸ Other Settings ▸ Active Input Handling and confirm it reads Input System Package (New) — that's Unity's default, so it should already be correct. If it isn't, set it and accept the restart prompt.

Unity Version / Patch Notice: We use Unity 6.3 LTS (6000.3.23f). If your installed a later release that differs slightly from the template (e.g. 6000.3.25f1), Unity Hub will show a prompt asking to open with your installed version. Click Open / Continue. This is safe. Minor patch differences within the 6.3 LTS line do not break projects, re-import assets, or cause compatibility issues.
